Jeff specializes in the archaeology of Mesoamerica, particularly southern Mexico. His dissertation research focused on the collapse and regeneration of early complex societies in coastal Oaxaca during the Terminal Formative period (150 B.C. - A.D. 250). His advisor was Art Joyce.
