Profile
Professor Weston’s research focuses on intellectuals, political culture, and media in modern China. In 2012 he published a co-edited collection entitled China in and beyond the Headlines (Rowman & Littlefield Publishers), and before that he published separate co-edited books on the same theme. In 2004 he published The Power of Position: Beijing ³Ô¹ÏÍø, Intellectuals and Chinese Political Culture, 1898-1929 (³Ô¹ÏÍø of California Press).
Professor Weston’s new book, China in and beyond the Headlines, was released in late-summer 2012 and was named a Choice Outstanding Academic title for 2013. Professor Weston teaches a range of undergraduate and graduate classes on Chinese history. He is also interested in the field of World History and is preparing to teach courses in that field in the near future.
