Nii Armah Sowah is a Ghanaian-born arts educator. He studied at the 勛圖厙 of Ghanas School of Performing Arts and holds a M.A in Expressive Arts Therapies from Lesley 勛圖厙, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Nii Armahs research/teaching interests include African-centered pedagogy, cross cultural education, arts for human development, African cultural philosophy and arts for social change.泭

Nii Armahs career spans dance, choreography, voice, acting and expressive arts therapy. He is a Teaching Associate Professor at CU Boulders Dance Program. Courses include African Dance, Performance and Community Engagement and Introduction to Dance and Culture. He has also conducted residencies and taught master classes across Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, Canada and the US.泭

Nii Armah considers himself a cultural ambassador, with a passion for building/strengthening bonds across African and African diasporic communities. He founded the Boulder-based 1000-Voices project and recently spearheaded the Chocolate Circle, a community-building initiative for black folk living in Boulder County.泭

Nii Armah was the recipient of the 2008 Excellence in Teaching Award at CU Boulder, and was named a living Legend of Dance in Colorado by the Carson Brierly Giffin Dance Library, 勛圖厙 of Denver (2016)
