Sarah joined CAPS as a doctoral intern in 2023 and is completing their PhD in Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan ³Ô¹ÏÍø. Sarah enjoys working with college and university students, having previously worked in ³Ô¹ÏÍø Counseling Centers at Western Michigan ³Ô¹ÏÍø, Kalamazoo College and George Washington ³Ô¹ÏÍø. They also have experience providing individual, couples and family psychotherapy in private practice and K-12 school settings. Sarah has been involved in research focused on the experiences of LGBTQIA+ people of color, identity development of LGBTQIA+ adolescents, LGBTQIA+ in rural areas and race-related multicultural competence of counselors.

Sarah employs a developmental and strengths-focused approach to therapy.

They endeavor to provide culturally-responsive services, focusing not only on clients as unique individuals, but as people situated in families, communitiesÌýand complex systems. They particularly enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ clients and supporting students in exploring the many facets of identity.
