Your July 2025 CRDDS Newsletter

TheCenter for Research Data and Digital Scholarship(CRDDS) offers a full range of support and opportunities for your digital and data-intensive research and learning needs, including workshops, talks, and consultation hours, which are free and open to all unless otherwise noted.
CRDDS is taking a hiatus from sending out weekly newsletters during May, June, and July. We'll resume sending our weekly newsletters in August.
Save-the-Date: Research Data Camp, August 18–20
Join the Center for Research Data & Digital Scholarship from Monday, August 18th to Wednesday, August 20th with an optional in-person working session on the 21st, for our Research Data Foundations Camp designed specifically with graduate students in mind (although all are welcome)! This is an in-person event.
As data-based research becomes a common practice, skills in data management, data analysis, and computational thinking are increasingly important for applied researchers. The Camp will provide a gentle introduction to data and programming-related research tools that will increase users' access to cutting-edge methods as they pursue their programs and research. Topics covered include reproducible research and data management; tools for collaboration and sharing (using GitHub and GitHub Pages); data analysis and visualization fundamentals in Python and R; and an overview of interdisciplinary data practices and ethics. No previous experience in coding or programming is required! Those who complete the optional assignments will be eligible to receive CU Boulder’s Research Data Foundations micro-credential.
Registration will open with the next newsletter--or possibly sooner! We'll be sure to let you know as soon as it does.
Save-the-Date: HPC Micro-credential, August 18–20
The High Performance Computing (HPC) micro-credential is for those who will be tackling computing-, memory-, or storage-intensive research problems that exceed the capacity of a laptop or desktop computer. This will be a hands-on introduction to high-performance computing (“supercomputing”) using CU Boulder’s Research Computing resources and will enable participants to create HPC-powered workflows that support their research.
Please keep an eye out for future newsletter announcements as we get closer to the start of the Fall 2025 semester. If you have any questions about the HPC micro-credential, please email us at rc-help@colorado.edu.
Interdisciplinary Consultation Hours
While we don't hold Consultation Hours over the summer months, we are available for one-on-one consultations by emailingcrdds@colorado.edu.
If you’d like to submit an event or opportunity for inclusion in a future newsletter, please use.
