Rachel Sigman is an assistant professor of democratic governance at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the ³Ô¹ÏÍø of Denver and a project manager with the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Institute based at the ³Ô¹ÏÍø of Gothenburg in Sweden. In her first book, Parties, Political Finance, and Governance in Africa (Cambridge ³Ô¹ÏÍø Press, 2023), Sigman explains how political money shapes government performance in Africa. Sigman's other work examines a range of topics related to democratic backsliding, state building, the effects of natural resource extraction on governance and U.S. influence in Africa.
