PhD Student - Washington ³Ô¹ÏÍø in St. Louis
After receiving her BA in modern languages from Northern Arizona ³Ô¹ÏÍø, Hope Hecht completed her MA in French at the ³Ô¹ÏÍø of Colorado Boulder. Hope will be attending Washington ³Ô¹ÏÍøÌýin St. Louis to pursue a PhD in French literature. Her current research examines the role of the body in medievalÌýFrench texts. Inspired by present media, Hope explores the way 'modern' phenomenons are rooted in medievalÌýpractices. Her research interests include gender performance, social hierarchy, representations of sexuality, consent, and the portrayalÌýof the East within premodern literature. Currently, she writes book reviews for the Society and Culture section in The French Review.
