Award-winning producer Gigi Pritzker to speak at CU Boulder

Pritzker’s talk will delve into the transformative power of bold storytelling—highlighting how film, television, and theater can drive cultural impact, amplify underrepresented voices, and inspire meaningful change.

“As Founder and CEO of Madison Wells, Gigi Pritzker stands among Hollywood’s most influential leaders,” said �Թ�� Emeritus Phil DiStefano, who holds the Newton Endowed Chair in Leadership. “CU Boulder is honored to welcome this visionary producer, whose work has consistently earned recognition at the highest levels. Her insights will be invaluable to our students and community.”

This event marks Pritzker as the ninth speaker in the Leo Hill Leadership Speaker Series, joining past luminaries such as Molly Bloom, David Brooks, Robert Gates and Mae Jemison.

Gigi Pritzker is a trailblazing producer and CEO of Madison Wells, a studio dedicated to bold storytelling that elevates underrepresented voices and challenges convention across film, television and theater.

She began her career with the BBC documentary Bhutan, Kingdom of the Thunder Dragon, inspired by a year living in Nepal as a Stanford anthropology student. In 2001, she founded OddLot Entertainment, later merging it into Madison Wells in 2015. Under her leadership, the company has become a powerhouse in independent production, with projects regularly earning Academy Award and Tony nominations. In 2017, she was awarded an Emmy for Collisions.

Pritzker serves on the Sundance Institute Board of Trustees and is active in numerous philanthropic initiatives. A proud Chicago native, she continues to champion both emerging and established creators.

Erivo was most-recently seen starring in the award-winning film “Wicked.”

Event Description:
Learn to recognize the cognitive error that accounts for 80% of counterproductive leadership behaviors and how to correct it.

What do you do when negative emotions arise? Do you harness their vitality and mine their wisdom? Or do you reframe and breathe through them - hoping they go away?

If you believe that emotions aren’t just here to be tamed but can be catalysts for moving you and your organization forward, you're in the right place.

Perhaps you’ve been told to manage your stress and reactivity by taking some deep breaths and reframing your stories and interpretations. While this “mindful” approach to dealing with negative emotions promotes a sense of calm, it doesn’t move the needle on things like motivation, creativity, or innovation. On the contrary, these emotional regulation techniques leave us feeling flat or emotionless – the opposite of the intuitive, passionate, visionary leadership we have come to admire in others.

In this 90-minute workshop, you’ll:
1. Learn a ground-breaking new theory of what your feelings are actually asking of you.
2. Explore the profound implications of harnessing emotions to lead yourself and others.
3. Leave with a simple practice you can use to raise your EQ to become a more effective leader.
You’ve read the literature explaining how emotional intelligence (EQ) is the biggest driver of leadership effectiveness but the techniques haven’t delivered the results you were seeking. In this masterclass, you’ll get a taste of what it’s like to embrace ALL of your emotions and live with passion. After all, emotions are what a sense of purpose and meaning are made of. Join leadership practitioners from across the state for a day of connection and learning as we discuss how to address the challenges and opportunities facing our communities and institutions. Programming will include a networking lunch, afternoon breakout sessions, a keynote from a leadership futurist, and an evening reception.

The program is intended for leadership practitioners who serve as program staff at leadership organizations that work on college campuses, in communities, or represent civic leadership entities.

Convening leadership practitioners from across the state will result in greater collaboration and connection across Colorado’s leadership ecosystem.
