Ethan McGinnis joined the Department ofÌýLinguistics in February 2023.ÌýHe previously worked in sponsored research administration at Northwestern ³Ô¹ÏÍø, specializing in cost sharing management.ÌýEthan earned an MFA in studio art in 2020 fromÌýthe ³Ô¹ÏÍø of California - Irvine, where he served in a variety of administrative capacities, and was an original and active member of the . His artistic and scholarly research is largely concerned with mapping the entangled influences of Orientalism, American Egyptomania, and biblical narrative on specific practices of settler-colonial placemaking in the midwestern United States.ÌýHe enjoys car camping and commuting via bicycle, and will jump at any chance to catch a total solar eclipse.Ìý
