RASEI Fellow Kyri Baker featured in energy podcast discussing the urgent need to more automation and energy management in grid systems.

“With Great Power” is a bi-weekly podcast from Latitude Media that connects with the people building the future grid. Episodes explore stories about the technology, climate, security and economic shifts that are reshaping utilities and the electricity system.

In April of 2024 RASEI Fellow Kyri Baker was interviewed by the With Great Power team. Kyri discussed her continuing research to use machine learning and advanced computational simulations for applications for the power grid, in everything from home energy management to the transmission and distribution grids, and pioneering work on new techniques for power flow optimization. The discussion explores how neural networks can be used to reduce outage times with data they already have available, and how machine learning algorithms can already make power flow predictions more accurate.
