In this month’s spotlight, we’re delighted to feature Katherine Krick, Senior HR Service Center Supervisor for the Research Faculty Team. Katherine and her team play a vital role in supporting Research Faculty across campus, from hiring and onboarding to navigating complex HR policies. We wanted to learn more about the work her team does—and share what Research Faculty should know to make the most of HR resources.Ìý
What is your role?ÌýÌýÌý
I am a Senior Supervisor for the Research Faculty HR Team in the Department of Human Resources.ÌýÌý
How do you support Research Faculty in your position?ÌýÌý
I support and oversee HR processes for all research faculty on the Boulder campus, such as hiring, performance, merit, payroll, and other employee lifecycle changes. I also help interpret HR policies that apply to research faculty and assist departments with navigating unique situations.ÌýÌý
What is one thing Research Faculty should know about HR that they often overlook or misunderstand?ÌýÌýÌý
HR is happy to be a resource for you! We understand that CU Boulder is a huge campus with a lot of different departments and services that can be difficult to navigate. Even if we can't answer your question ourselves, we will help direct you to the correct contact.ÌýÌý
What advice would you give Research Faculty to help them navigate HR processes more effectively?ÌýÌýÌý
I would advise Research Faculty to provide detailed information when they reach out with an HR matter. Some HR processes and policies can be nuanced, and having all the details from the start helps us get back to you quicker and with the most accurate information.Ìý
What do you find most rewarding about supporting Research Faculty?Ìý
The most rewarding part of my job is when I am able to make a process easier or more equitable for our research faculty population. I want our researchers to be setup for success and able to focus on the important research they are doing.Ìý
