CU Boulder launches campus safety app: CU Boulder Safe

CU Boulder's Division of Public Safety (DPS) has launched a new mobile safety app, CU Boulder Safe. The app is designed to centralize emergency alerts, safety tools, and campus resources—making it easier for students, faculty, and staff to find everything they need in one place. The app also includes all of CU Boulder's transit info and maps, including a link to the Transit app. The CU Boulder Safe app is now available for download in the Apple App and Google Play stores and requires an IdentiKey login to access the interface. Going to the airport for the holidays?

Did you know you can travel to the Denver International Airport (DIA) for free with your Buff OneCard? With one stop adjacent to CU Boulder at 16th and Broadway, the SkyRide (AB1) leaves hourly from Boulder Station. If you're taking the AB1 bus, head over to the Downtown Station to improve your chances of getting a spot on the bus. Live by 28th Street? Use the AB2 route instead of the AB1 to get ahead of the crowd. You can also take the Flatiron Flyer bus to Union Station and take the A light rail line. Free transportation services: RTD Free Ride, Via Mobility Services and Lime Access

Looking to save money on transit? Via riders can now use their mobility services for free since Sept. 1. RTD’s 16th Street Free Ride in Denver has also started its service again since Oct. 5. Lime Access is also a great way to get around town for free rides if they are 30 minutes or less. Reasons for eligibility include SNAP, Medicaid, and more. Check out if you can add these transportation options to your daily routes.

Need support for transit, medical, food costs and more?

The Boulder County Family Resource Network has created the Boulder County Findhelp website to support Boulder residents in finding support for transit, medical care, food, job training, housing, and more. Simply search your zip code to start finding opportunities to fit your needs.

CU Boulder Vanpool Program passes 20 vans

With the partnership of Commute with Enterprise, the university's Vanpool Program now has 21 vans in its fleet. If you are a CU Boulder employee, affiliate or contractor, check out the CU Boulder Vanpool Program website to save money on parking and other costs during your campus commute.

CU Boulder faculty and staff are invited to submit proposals for 2026-27 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Impact Grants.

Deadlines:

Summer 2026 proposals are due Friday, January 30
Academic year 2026-27 proposals are due Friday, March 6

Access the submission portal and proposal writing resources on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resource Hub.

Sponsored by the Office of Leadership Support and Programming, Impact Grants provide seed funding for programmatic efforts that operationalize and enhance units’ capacity to advance at least one of the campus’s five diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. Initiatives are eligible for up to five years of funding that decreases by 20% of the initial award with each renewal. Proposals must include a detailed assessment plan and have support from their unit lead.

Hello Research Faculty and Staff,

Wow, what a fall! As we head into the end of the semester, we want to recognize what a challenging few months this has been, particularly for those impacted by changes to federal research funding or by the recent disruption to SNAP benefits. If you still need support with getting access to food, consider the Mobile Food Pantry, Staff and Faculty Emergency Fund, or these community resources. Please utilize the resources campus has to offer during these uncertain times and reach out if you have ideas on ways that we can better support research faculty and staff.

While we continue to navigate these challenges together, we’ve also been actively advocating on your behalf on several key issues. First, we continue to elevate the Staff Council Resolution to Reaffirm and Commit Support for a Positive Work Environment for the Transgender, Intersex, Non-Binary Community with our executive leaders. We have been engaging with a working group made up of colleagues from the Registrar’s Office, OIT, and HR on the Resolution’s recommendation #3 regarding the employee name change process, and the team has made some important changes to the HR website to help clarify the process. If you are interested in providing feedback on those changes, please use this feedback form to submit ideas on ways we can continue to improve. Next steps for the team include identifying needed system improvements and conducting user testing.

We’ve also joined broader campus conversations around inclusion and representation. Staff Council collaborated with the CU Student Government and Boulder Faculty Assembly to submit a letter to the �Թ�� that states our disapproval of the statue of Coach Bill McCartney that will be placed on Franklin Field. Led by CUSG leadership, the letter calls for annual scholarships for students and awards for both faculty and staff who demonstrate a commitment to building community.

In addition to these advocacy efforts, we’ve been listening closely to your feedback from our Pulse forms and last newsletter survey on campus safety resources and training. We have shared your anonymous feedback with the Strategic Relations and Communications and Public Safety executives and will continue to partner with them on making campus safety resources as accessible as possible.

As the semester winds down, we’d love to take a moment to celebrate you and all the incredible work you’ve done. Please join us for the upcoming Staff and Research Faculty Appreciation Breakfast on Thursday, December 11, from 7:00 – 9:30 am in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom. Our executive leaders will be behind the buffet tables to serve everyone breakfast, and it is a wonderful opportunity to meet other colleagues and be recognized for all that you do on campus. Remember to bring your Buff OneCard and nonperishable food items to donate to the Mobile Food Pantry, if you are able to. We can't wait to see you there!
