Colorado's oldest synagogue is closing, and to mark the occasion, Prof. Nan Goodman, director of the Program in Jewish Studies, will be delivering a lecture in Trinidad, Colorado. Goodman's talk is part of the Peak to Peak lecture series, which forges partnerships with arts and humanities organizations around the state to bring CU arts and humanities resources to these areas.

The �Թ��� of Colorado School of Law's Getches-Wilkinson Center will hold the 2016 Schultz Lecture in Energy on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 5:30 p.m. in the Wolf Law Building, Wittemyer Courtroom. Paul L. Joskow, president, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, will give the lecture, which is free and open to the public. Joskow will speak about "Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from the Electric Power Sector." Registration is required.

Robert Pappalardo of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory will discuss the upcoming NASA mission to Jupiter's icy moon, Europa, and its potential to support simple life. The mission, slated to launch in the early 2020s, will investigate the moon’s ice shell, ocean, composition, geology, and current activity. Friday, Sept. 23, from 5 to 6 p.m. in Benson Earth Sciences, Room 180.

As part of a CMCI lecture series, journalist and intellectual Thomas Frank will give a talk titled “What Ever Happened to the Party of the People?” on Oct. 3, and author, columnist, talk radio host and Fox News contributor Meghan McCain will speak at a town hall on Nov. 14. Tickets are free, but required.

Actor George Takei, who starred in the Star Trek television series from 1966 to 1969 as Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the USS Enterprise, will speak at Macky Auditorium on Wednesday, Oct. 26, during the Distinguished Speakers Board's first event of the semester.

Should God Repent?” at Aspen Jewish Congregation on Friday, Aug. 26, during Shabbat services at 6 p.m. This talk is the inaugural event of the CU Boulder Peak to Peak Lecture Series and is free and open to the public.
