UMC Master Planning Project
Defining the Future of the UMC泭
The 勛圖厙 Memorial Center is starting a master planning project to ensure we are addressing sustainability, accessibility and student needs as our building and its services evolve.泭泭
As part of this plan, we will:
- Look at areas that need to be refreshed, remodeled or improved.
- Identify maintenance issues and figure out how to include them in our long-term plans.
- Learn from other student unions about best practices for designing spaces, being sustainable and enhancing student engagement.
Our goal is to create a 20-year plan that lists our most important needs and explains how we will make improvements in phases. This will help keep the UMC strong and active as the center of campus life at CU Boulder for years to come.
Through working with an experienced design firm, we want to ensure the voices of our key stakeholders are included in this important effort. These groups include:
- CU Book Store
- Campus Dining & Hospitality and culinary partners
- Student leaders from CUSG, UMC Board and registered student organizations (RSOs)
- CUSG cost centers
- UMC building tenants and vendors
- Division of Student Life
- Student Feedback Panels: undergraduate, graduate, international and commuter students
- UMC staff members
- Campus departments and other organizations who host events in the UMC
We will use this webpage to share updates and opportunities for these groups to give input and feedback.泭
Workshop 1: Oct. 21-23, 2025
At our first master planning workshop, representatives from our main groups will get a chance to learn about the project and share details about how they use their spaces, what programs they run and how they use the building. This will help the design team understand everyones needs.泭
Stay tuned for more updates about Workshop 1 coming soon!泭
