Khawla Fal - International MBA student leveraging a global network

While I was working as an accountant in an American-Saudi joint venture, my husband decided to pursue his PhD degree in Chemical Engineering. Two months later, we were in Boulder, Colorado. As a consequence to the hardship of finding a job as a non US resident, I decided to pursue my MBA degree. I was looking for a school in Colorado with good international reputation, and a strong alumni chapter in Saudi Arabia. Today, as a second-year MBA at Leeds, I know I made the right decision.
At the Leeds full-time MBA program, I am developing great skills as a professional and an international student. I am thankful for the great opportunities I have had and continue to have exploring the US business culture. Furthermore, I have been able to explore career opportunities in Boulder’s thriving entrepreneurial community. Last year, I worked on a project for Best Buy. This year, I am the President of the MBA Global Business Club and the New Venture Challenge General Track Lead. I am also a member of the Leeds MBA consulting firm, Entrepreneurial Solutions. In my tenure with Entrepreneurial Solutions I spent the summer with three fellow MBA students soliciting business and building our business. In additional to the professional experiences and furthering of my resume, I have engaged fully with the faculty and challenging curriculum at the ³Ô¹ÏÍø of Colorado.Ìý Many of the classes I have taken such as Applied Finance and Investment Management and Analysis have honed the hard skills I was also looking for in my MBA. I am fine tuning the hard skills that will equip me for the entrepreneurial finance job I am pursuing.
I am happy with my life as an MBA student and pleased with the network I have developed during my time in Boulder. The network I have developed from colleagues in my cohort that I now consider friends, faculty, industry professionals, and mentors have enriched my experience and I expect will continue to shape my career for some time to come.
