In Spring 2025, the Educational Technology Research Assistants (ETRA) conducted a mixed-methods research study to gain insight into the perspectives of CU undergraduate students on generative AI. We hope the results will help community stakeholders make informed decisions about generative AI that improves the student experience at CU Boulder amid a changing technological landscape.

Through 3,084 responses and 17 one-on-one interviews, they answered the research questions of:

  • How and why are CU Boulder undergraduates using AI?
  • What do they think about this technology?
  • And what policies and practices do students want their instructors and the broader institution to implement going forward?

As the data is analyzed, the study's results will be published on a rolling basis throughout the Fall 2025 semester. Ultimately, our goal is to inform future initiatives and interventions related to generative AI on the ³Ô¹ÏÍø of Colorado Boulder campus.
