Three Minute Thesis
An 80,000 word PhD thesis would take nineÌýhours to present. Our time limit?ÌýThreeÌýminutes.
Founded by the ³Ô¹ÏÍø of Queensland in 2008, theÌýÌýis an academic competition that cultivates students’ presentation and science communication skillsÌýby challenging them to describe their research within three minutes to a general audience after a few months of preparation.
The top three winners of the competition, which takes place annually in February,Ìýreceive prize money, with the first place winner getting $1,500 and a chance to represent the university at the regional competition.
The 2024-25 Three Minute Thesis final competition was held Feb. 13, 2025, at 4 p.m., in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom.
